My name is Joel Ramos, I was born in Puerto Rico where growing
up I
always
had a
fascination
with art and technology. Growing up I taught myself how to play guitar and played many shows during those
formative years around the island.
Eventually became an AV Technician for the University of Puerto Rico for 10 years.
It was there I was introduced to raspberry pis, coding and tinkering.
My former boss at the UPR was very instrumental in this area where I wanted to make things or mod old
tech.
I started doing raspberry pi projects where I found myself learning how to solder but slowly learning
coding.
I always taught myself how to do stuff growing up but never had the opportunity to formally learn code.
My hope is to eventually learn enough where I can become a good programmer to continue working on
projects
that
require it.
I currently live in MA, where I work in the Harvard Extension School as a Senior Online Education
Production
Specialist.
I am currently seeking my Masters in Digital Media Design and a certificate in Learning Design and
Technology.
One of my favorite things to do is restoring old video game systems. From the original Nintendo
Entertainment
System to current gen systems.
My hope is to eventually understand better about electronics that I can start fixing full sized video
game
arcades, like the ones we used to play back in the 80s and 90s.
Some of my favorite arcades growing up were games like Donkey Kong and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles oh!
and
I
can't forget classics like Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat.
But going back to this page, I am adding a few more things I enjoy as well as my favorite sports team.
